BIODIVERSITY
NET GAIN
Biodiversity Net Gain is an innovative approach aimed at enhancing natural ecosystems. The strategy ensures that when land is developed, at the same time a contribution to the recovery of nature is put in place.
It ensures that the natural environment thrives alongside human expansion and that wildlife is in a better state than it was before development started. Large and small developments must achieve an overall 10% BNG as part of their project. The Environment and Town and Country Planning Acts demand that any biodiversity lost due to construction or development must be surpassed by a measurable improvement, providing a net gain overall.
Ecological gain must first be maximised on the site itself, but once these opportunities have been exhausted BNG can be delivered by responsible off-site providers who create and maintain the required habitat for at least 30 years.

OUR ECOLOGICAL WORK
We offer in-house habitat improvements and continuing management for the lifetime of the scheme with a dedicated ecologist, habitat management and monitoring, extensive baseline and ongoing surveys.
Southend Farm has allocated about 30 hectares for potential BNG projects. The farm has had an ecological baseline study done on the farmland in 2023.
We present the opportunity of purchasing Biodiversity Net Gain units within the Chichester District and beyond through the enhancement of arable land.
